Models look good in magazines because their pictures have been retouched by professionals. If you have attempted something like this yourself but made the model look worse, then PT Portrait is something you might want to try. This lightweight photo editor is designed specifically for face retouching, as the name suggests. The software makes this process much easier, because you only need to interact with sliders and other basic tools, rather than looking through countless menus.

The software is free to try with some minor limitations, but you can try out its core features without any restrictions. It is compatible with all modern Windows versions and it provides support for both 32 and 64-bit operating systems. The installation process is straight forward and easy, so you can start using the program right away.

Instead of dumping a large number of controls in front of you, like most photo editors, PT Portrait guides you through a few simple steps like a wizard. The entire operation involves four stages, during which you have to make some basic preparations, fit the portrait you wish to retouch, perform a makeover and reshape the portrait.

The basic preparations involve tweaking the imported photo's temperature, tint, exposure and other color-related characteristics. Next, you have to click certain parts of the portraits and fit the portrait. The program will fit it automatically, according to your clicks, but you can adjust the selection manually if you need to.

Once the subject's face is selected, the program will automatically make a few light adjustments. At this point, you can use its blemish and red-eye removal tools, as well as a skin editing mask, if the default adjustments didn't cover the entire face.

All other adjustments can be made just by clicking and dragging a series of sliders. This includes removing wrinkles, skin defects, sharpening the iris and eyebrows and much more. It is also possible to make a few slight distortions, to make the face look slimmer, to make the subject smile and so on. The best part is that no visible evidence will be left behind.

Pros

The software makes portrait retouching very easy. Its controls are easy to spot and easy to use. You can make a wide range of corrections, without leaving any visible traces behind.

Cons

You can't save your work while using the trial version. With PT Portrait, you can make a person look completely different in a picture, without any kind of difficulties.
